I dig makeup ‘mkay. But who actually has the money to buy Kylie cosmetics and what not?
NOT ME. I need makeup products for under R150 in my life.
So I bought 9 makeup products for under R150 to create a full look. And they’re actually flipping awesome.
Here they are because I value my moolah…
First, makeup products for under R150 FOR YOUR FACE
FOUNDATION
(R144.95 AT DIS-CHEM)
CATRICE COSMETICS HD LIQUID COVERAGE FOUNDATION
REVIEW
It gives the skin a natural finish as it has a mattifying effect. It is extremely lightweight (bye bye icky thick foundation).
APPLICATION
Dot the foundation on your skin and use a damp beauty blender to ensure that the foundation blends seamlessly without leaving any streaks.
CONCEALER
(R59.95 AT DIS-CHEM)
LA GIRL PRO CONCEALER
REVIEW
This concealer is considered as the holy grail concealer by numerous makeup artists and beauty gurus. With a wide shade range, there is a colour to suit every skin tone.
APPLICATION
Apply a shade that is one shade lighter than your skin colour in a triangular shape underneath your eyes: this will eliminate dark circles and highlight your skin.
BRONZER
(R119.95 AT CLICKS)
WET N WILD BRONZER POWDER
Firstly, anything that contains SPF is a winner. Secondly, who wouldn’t want to use a product that won the Oprah Magazine O-Ward?. This bronzer is dermatologist-tested and oil-free: your skin will thank you for this one!
APPLICATION
Apply the bronzer on cheekbones and on your temples to give your face definition and colour.
HIGHLIGHTER
(R92.95 AT DIS-CHEM)
CATRICE DELUXE GLOW HIGHLIGHTER
REVIEW
3 Beautiful shades in one palette? YES PLEASE. This highlighting palette is enriched with vitamin E and jojoba oil and will leave your skin looking radiant and glowy.
APPLICATION
Use a fan brush to apply the highlighter on the high points of your cheekbones as well as your cupid’s bow.
Makeup products for under R150 FOR YOUR EYEBROWS
Eyebrow STUFF
(R26.95 AT DIS-CHEM)
ESSENCE EYEBROW DESIGNER
REVIEW
A wooden eyebrow pencil is a staple for makeup junkies as it can be sharpened to create a precise point that makes it easier to fill in the brows. This particular pencil is extremely pigmented (has an excellent colour payoff) and has a creamy consistency.
APPLICATION
Comb the brows using the brush on the top of the pencil, fill in the tail of the brow or any other sparse areas and comb through once more to ensure the product is evenly applied.
Makeup products for under R150 FOR YOUR EYES

REVIEW
The 4 shades in this palette can be used to achieve an everyday smokey eye or to create a killer night-time look.

Prime the eyes using an eyeshadow primer. Apply the lightest shade all over the eye to ensure that the shadows won’t crease. This palette is versatile as it contains shimmer and matte shades.
